Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Pairscape ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data. By using Pairscape, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

This policy covers the Pairscape website at pairscape.com and the Pairscape Android app, which shows the same service inside Google Chrome.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide

• Account information: username, email address, and gender when you sign up.
• Profile picture: if you upload one.
• Verification image: a photo you submit if you apply for identity verification (female users only).
• Messages: text messages you send to other users through the chat feature.
• Payment information: when purchasing points, payment is processed by PayPal. We do not store your full payment details — only transaction identifiers and point balances.
• Earlier crypto purchases: crypto purchases are no longer offered. For orders paid that way in the past, we keep the order record (amount, points credited, reference and transaction identifiers) as part of our financial records.
• Android app purchases: purchases made in the Android app are processed by Google Play. Google gives Pairscape a purchase token and an order id so we can credit your points, but not your card details.
• Payout information: your crypto wallet address if you request a payout.

Information collected automatically

• Usage data: pages visited, features used, session duration.
• Activity on the service: your calls (who with, when and for how long), your sessions, when you were last active, and profile views. When a man opens a woman's profile on the People page, we record which account viewed which profile and the hour it happened. A woman sees only how many men viewed her profile in the past week, never who they were. Profile view records are deleted after 30 days and are not shared with anyone.
• Device and browser information: browser type, operating system, and IP address for security and analytics purposes.
• Security checks (reCAPTCHA): sign-up, login, password reset and your first time joining the matching queue are protected by reCAPTCHA v3, a Google service that tells people and bots apart. When you use one of those forms or join the queue for the first time, reCAPTCHA sends device and interaction signals to Google. This protects your account and our service from abuse. Google's use of that data is covered by the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

Google Sign-In

If you sign in with Google, we receive your Google account email address, display name, and profile picture from Google. We do not receive your Google password.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To create and manage your account.
• To match you with other users for conversations.
• To process points purchases and payouts.
• To review identity verification submissions (admin only).
• To enforce our Terms of Service and prevent abuse.
• To send service-related notifications (e.g. payout status).
• To improve the Service through anonymised analytics.

Transactional email, such as verification codes and activity notices, is sent through an SMTP provider, which receives your email address and the message.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

4. How We Store Your Data

Your data is stored on servers we control, protected by access controls and encrypted in transit. Passwords are never stored in readable form. Verification photos are held in a private location that is not publicly reachable and can only be opened by an authorised reviewer.

5. Data Sharing

We share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

• With matched users: your username and profile picture are visible to users you are connected or matched with.
• With PayPal: payment data is shared with PayPal solely to process your purchase. Checkout takes place on PayPal's own pages.
• With Google Play: purchases made in the Android app are handled by Google Play, under Google's own privacy policy.
• With service providers: we use Cloudflare for video and audio connections. These providers have their own privacy policies.
• With Google Cloud Translation (message translation): only if you switch translation on. Message translation is off by default. Once you choose a target language from the translate menu, the text of the messages you receive is sent to Google Cloud Translation, a third-party translation service, so it can be translated. A backup service, MyMemory, is used only when Google Translation is not configured. Our servers make that request, so the provider does not see your IP address or your account, and no name or email is attached. Choosing "Off" in the same menu stops it immediately. Google's use of that data is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.
• Translation reports: if you tap "Bad translation?" under a translated message, we store the text of that message, the translation you were shown and the two languages, so we can improve translation. Only Pairscape staff see these reports. They are deleted after 180 days, or sooner if you delete your account.
• For legal reasons: if required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of users.

6. Cookies and Tracking

Pairscape uses cookies that fall into the following categories:

• Necessary cookies: required for authentication and core functionality. These are always active.
• Analytics cookies: Microsoft Clarity helps us understand how the site is used through anonymised session data. Only activated with your consent.
• Marketing cookies: the TikTok Pixel, the Meta (Facebook) Pixel, the Google Ads tag and the TrafficJunky tag are used for ad conversion tracking. Only activated with your consent. While this category is switched on, our servers also report the same conversions — a completed purchase or a new account — directly to TikTok, with your email address and account identifier hashed beforehand so TikTok never receives either in readable form. Switch the category off and neither the tags nor the server-side reporting run.
• TrafficJunky: a marketing tag that is loaded only with marketing consent. It receives an advertising id and, for a completed purchase, the purchase amount, with no name, email or account id attached. It is not loaded inside the Android app.

When you first visit Pairscape, a cookie consent banner lets you accept, reject, or customise which optional cookie categories are enabled. Optional categories are never pre-selected — nothing beyond the necessary cookies is enabled unless you switch it on yourself. You can change your preferences at any time by clearing your browser cookies and revisiting the site.

Separately from cookies, message translation shares data with a third party and is off by default. If you turn it on by picking a language in the translate menu, the text of the messages you receive is sent to Google Cloud Translation to be translated (a backup service, MyMemory, is used only when Google Translation is not configured). Google's use of that data is covered by the Google Privacy Policy. See Data Sharing above.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

• Access: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Correction: request correction of inaccurate data (e.g. your email address).
• Deletion: request deletion of your account and personal data.
• Objection: object to certain uses of your data.
• Portability: request your data in a portable format.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@pairscape.com. We will respond within 30 days.

8. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for fraud prevention purposes. Anonymised analytics data may be retained indefinitely.

9. Children's Privacy

Pairscape is not intended for anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us immediately and we will delete the account.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above. If changes are significant, we will notify registered users by email or via an in-app notice.
