How to video chat with strangers safely

The golden rules

• Keep personal details out of the chat. Your full name, home address, workplace, school, and phone number have no place in a conversation with someone you just met. A first name is plenty.
• Never send money or share financial information. No legitimate new acquaintance needs your card number, crypto wallet seed phrase, or a “small loan.” Anyone who asks is running a script — report and skip.
• Assume anything on camera can be seen. Check what’s behind you: mail with your address, a diploma with your full name, or a window that identifies your street can all reveal more than you intend.
