How to video chat with strangers safely

Meeting new people over live video is one of the most genuine ways to connect online — you see a real face and hear a real voice from the first second. Like anywhere else on the internet, a few simple habits keep the experience fun and safe. Here is what we recommend to everyone on Pairscape, and what we do on our side.

The golden rules

Keep personal details out of the chat. Your full name, home address, workplace, school, and phone number have no place in a conversation with someone you just met. A first name is plenty.
Never send money or share financial information. No legitimate new acquaintance needs your card number, crypto wallet seed phrase, or a “small loan.” Anyone who asks is running a script — report and skip.
Assume anything on camera can be seen. Check what’s behind you: mail with your address, a diploma with your full name, or a window that identifies your street can all reveal more than you intend.
Stay on the platform. Scammers try to move conversations to other apps quickly, away from moderation. If someone pushes hard for your WhatsApp or Telegram in the first minutes, that’s a red flag.
Trust your gut and use the skip button. You never owe a stranger your time. If a conversation feels off, end it — that’s what instant matching is for.

Red flags to watch for

Someone whose “camera is broken” but who wants yours on.
Instant declarations of love or friendship followed by a sad story that needs money.
Requests to hold up ID, say your full name, or confirm where you live.
Pressure to do anything on camera you wouldn’t want recorded — even though Pairscape never records video, you can’t control what someone does with their own screen.
Links to external sites promising prizes, investments, or “better” chats.

What Pairscape does that anonymous chat sites don’t

Classic random chat sites like Omegle became notorious because anyone could appear on camera with zero accountability. Pairscape is built differently:

Accounts, not anonymity. Everyone signs up before they can match, so bad actors can be banned — permanently, not until they refresh the page.
Profile verification. Verification keeps profiles honest and is required before women can earn on the platform.
No AI, no bots. Every match is a real human. We don’t pad the queue with chatbots, and fake profiles get removed.
Encrypted, never recorded. Video is end-to-end encrypted between you and your match and is never stored on our servers.
One-click reporting with a real moderation team. Reports are reviewed by people, and the points system means banned accounts lose something real.

Child safety standards

Pairscape has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) and for child sexual abuse material (CSAM). Any content or behaviour that sexualises, grooms, exploits or endangers a minor is prohibited on Pairscape, whether it appears in a video call, a message, a profile or a photo. These are our published standards and how we enforce them.

Adults only. Pairscape is strictly 18+. Every new account must explicitly confirm that the user is 18 years or older before signup can be completed, and every woman must pass photo ID verification before she can appear in a call. Accounts that misrepresent their age are removed.
In-app reporting and blocking. A report button is available in every call and on user profiles, with Block right next to Report. Reports are reviewed by the Pairscape moderation team.
Enforcement. Accounts involved in child sexual abuse or exploitation are permanently banned. We report confirmed CSAM to the relevant authorities, including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and/or local law enforcement as required by law, and we preserve evidence as required.
Legal compliance. Pairscape complies with applicable child safety laws and cooperates with law enforcement on child safety matters.
Child safety contact. Our designated point of contact for child safety is support@pairscape.com. You can also report child safety concerns there directly, including if you do not have a Pairscape account.

Pairscape is an 18+ platform. We do not permit minors to create accounts, and we remove accounts that misrepresent their age. If you believe a minor is using the service, email support@pairscape.com and we will act on it.
